A consignment of food and non-food items has today been launched ready for distribution to various parts of the County, as the International Organization for Migration and the County Government join hands, in efforts to help those affected by the El-Nino floods.
About 1400 emergency sanitary kits and more tha 295 emergency shelter materials and among the items that are set for distribution to the most affected areas in all the three (3) Sub-Counties.
Mr. Samuel Cabrado, Head of Recovery and Resilience Unit at the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) says the exercise is expected to go on for the whole week, as more items are expected to arrive later.
On his part, H.E the Governor Maj. (Rtd) Dr. Dhadho Gaddae Godhana, expressed his gratitude to IOM, as well as asked for support from other partners as his government puts in more effort to arrest the situation on the ground.
“We believe we shall overcome. It has been hectic for us as a government and as a people. But with support from partners such as IOM and others, then it will easier for us to deal with such disasters.” H.E the Governor said.
