The El Nino Resource Mobilization Committee led by Chairman Mr. Fahim A. Ahmed Bayusuf visited various camps in Tana Delta Sub-County on Day 2 of the ongoing disaster assessment exercise.
At Shirikisho village, the committee engaged the elderly, youth and lactating women in an effort to get their needs while they are in the camps .
Mr Ahmed gave the victims of floods at Shirikisho Village Sh100,000 to cushion them for a while following an incident where the committee found a woman preparing certified maize seeds for the evening meal for her children.
The committee also spent some time with an elderly man from the Orma community who has been accommodate by his Pokomo neighbours in Shirikisho (chara). He says all stock in shops and in the village is depleted.
Hundreds of residents are trying to rebuild their houses that were washed away by the ravaging floods, caused by the ongoingEl-Nino rains.
They have been forced to slept in the cold enough for the last one month.
The team will be criss-crossing every part of Tana, to ensure that all those affected get the help that they need.
